Throughout the 1900s, Siglufjörður experienced massive growth and became one of Iceland’s most significant herring fishing towns. Let us recreate that world around you, whilst also sharing the modern-day highlights and attractions of this charming town.

This tour is family-friendly, suitable for all and can be adapted to be wheelchair accessible. We highly recommend combining this tour with a stop at the Herring Era Museum, for a truly delightful day in town.

We depart at 13.00 from our office in Siglufjörður, and we are happy to arrange other times on request.

The Avalanche Garden trails

We also offer gentle hikes through the Siglufjörður Avalanche Gardens and in the natural areas surrounding the town. Enjoy excellent views across the fjord, hidden gems tucked away in the forest, and a local guide to share the history and stories of the town.

These short hikes takes us along gravel trails, with some inclines. We recommend wearing good, comfortable walking shoes (or boots if you like) and bringing a small bottle of water. Exact routes may vary.
