Day tours on the oak boat Örkin (The Ark)
Find your sea legs with us on a day tour from Siglufjörður, for an immersive journey through the history and culture of Iceland’s Arctic coastline.
We sail from Siglufjörður harbour towards the old settlement at Siglunes, the peninsula guarding Siglufjörður from the unrelenting waves of the Arctic Ocean. We traverse the fjord, taking in landscapes and birdlife, and if weather allows, we head east, taking a peek at Héðinsfjörður, abandoned by people since the 1950’s.
During the tour you’ll discover the fascinating stories that took place in the fjord, and the people who challenged the elements for survival. Our vessel, Örkin, is a former fishing vessel, offering an authentic taste of local life in a North Icelandic fishing community.
No boat tour is perfect without fishing – and there will be plenty of opportunities to catch your dinner as we try out our skills at sea angling along the way.
This day tour offers a tour on an authentic renovated oak boat, plentiful storytelling, majestic views from the sea, birdlife – and chance to catch your dinner!
